Empowering Local Schools

Supporting Teacher Training

Recently the Ugandan government has  required upgraded certification for teachers at all levels.  CBH has provided funding for continuing education for all Banyatereza Sisters who are currently working in nursery, primary and secondary levels of education.  Although temporarily stalled by the COVID pandemic, the teachers have been participating in academic programs to upgrade their training and meet the new standards.

School Infrastructure

Additional rooms were added to increase the number of grade levels. An improved water system and new outdoor latrines were added.  Additional funding is needed to improve the condition of older classrooms, school supplies and outdoor play equipment. The school serves more than 400 students. CBH has also provided additional funding to upgrade facilities for the Ava Maria Secondary School Administration building.

Learning Materials & Tuition

Learning Materials & Tuition

Ugandan schools, whether mission, private or public, are in need of funding to purchase classroom materials and computers. Most classroom materials are purchased within Uganda to meet government standards for education. There is also a need for tuition to cover the cost of mission schools. The desire to attend mission schools is high due to the quality of education provided. Most mission schools admit students regardless of faith or religious affiliation.
