Healthcare Infrastructure

New Infrastructure Projects

From 2017 to present, CBH has supported important healthcare infrastructure projects including:

  • partial funding for the construction of a maternity center, including beds and medical equipment.
  • full funding for construction of an operating theater, equipped with medical instruments purchased through Joint Medical Store (JMS), a reputable nonprofit provider of high quality medical equipment, medications and other supplies.
  • upgraded the housing and infirmary for elderly Banyatereza sisters.
  • partial funding for NNI project, converting Rwibaale Health Center IV to a hospital over the next three to five years (see NNI Progress Report).  Recently completed projects include: a water system supplying the Rwibaale clinic, primary and secondary schools and villagers; Waste Management Plant for the clinic; and onsite housing for healthcare professionals and learners.
  • partial funding to maintain health insurance funding for local residents of villages in the vicinity of Rwibaale.
  • partial funding for an ambulance, delivered to Rwibaale in September 2022.

In partnership African Mission Healthcare, a major accomplishment was the advancement of the Rwibaale Health Center II to a full-fledged hospital which opened in December of 2025.

Strategic Planning

Our board members and volunteers have actively participated in health systems strengthening efforts, including the planning of the NNI.  We work directly with the Banyatereza Sisters and African Mission Health Care Foundation, to understand and support the needs of the local health care community.
